Founded in 2019 and based in Geneva, Backpack Pictures aims to create entertaining cinematographic works with themes capable of reaching an eclectic audience, by establishing fruitful collaborations with the many talents of Swiss and international cinema.
We are convinced that cinema is a powerful narrative vehicle, capable of bringing ideas of multiple dimensions to life, arousing a range of deep emotions and stimulating reflection in spectators. Our intention: to touch hearts and mark spirits.
Producers
Damien Mazza
Born in 1988 in Geneva, Damien studied cinema in Switzerland and Canada. Specializing in screenwriting and production, he has contributed to over 30 films in several countries, receiving nominations at over 200 festivals and winning over 50 awards. Damien wants to develop projects that captivate on an emotional and intellectual level.
It focuses on developing rich characters, meaningful dialogue and impactful content, often exploring themes of family and friendship within the middle and working classes. His favorite genres are drama, black comedy and dramady.
Inspired by films such as "Little Miss Sunshine" or "In Bruges", Damien's work reflects their influence by embracing authenticity, even in unconventional narratives.
David Frank
David is a versatile entrepreneur and investor born in 1985, based in Geneva, Switzerland, with over 15 years of experience in business and project management. He is active in various sectors, including film production, sports club administration, finance and real estate.
Open-minded, very curious and eclectic in his tastes, he aims to develop quality films exploring various subjects, and reflecting the diversity of our current world and the complexity of human nature.
He co-produced “Like Father, Like Son” alongside Damien in 2021 and currently has several other films in development through his production companies based in Geneva and Brussels.
